Theres a familiar saying that "GOD KNOWS MY HEART"... and while that is VERY TRUE,it STILL is kind of weak, when it comes to broken promises. In this familiar passage of Malachi,it is important to understand the REASON for the rebuke AND the promises that God gave to ISRAEL,here. The REASON FOR the REBUKE,is because Israel LIED to God.The Reason for the CURSE,(or the CONDEMNATION), is because NO ONE TOLD them to enter into Covenant WITH God. They DID this because of the guilt from their waywardness. The Scripture proves in Nehemiah 10,verse 28,that "everyone having knowledge, and having understanding;"...(29)"They clave to their Brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse (alah,aw-law),and into an oath (Shebuwah,sheb-oo-aw)..",then gave God all of these promises and vows.In Malachi 3,verse 7,God told them to Return unto Me,and I will return unto you....Israel asked God,Wherein shall we return? They were asking God return unto You HOW? iN WHAT? Then God answered them,by REMINDING them of what THEY said.It wasnt a pledge for MONIES... but...God was reminding them of WHAT THEY vowed to Him,while FULLY "having knowledge, and having understanding"...OF what THEY WERE SAYING.Then God told them THE BENEFIT of KEEPING THEIR Words unto Him...of keeping their VOWS.
